Living the American Dream
Roberto Faraone Mennella is living the American dream. Shortly after moving to New York City in 2001, the small town Italian born jewelry designer struck it lucky with a once in a lifetime chance encounter with the women of Sex in the City.
It was at this time that Roberto and his childhood best friend, Amedeo Scognamiglio were in the beginning stages of starting their first jewelry line, Faraone Mennella by RFMAS . They were struggling to get the new line off the ground and were looking for a sign to continue with the brand.
"We were looking for a sign to continue with the brand, when we looked outside onto the street and saw the Sex and the City wardrobe trailer," Mennella told us when we visited the brand's Knightsbridge store. "We went up and knocked on the wardrobe trailer door, and there was Patricia Field."
After showing her their collection, Field asked if she could keep it all, and before long their pieces started showing up in every scene.
"We spent the entire summer hanging out on the Sex and the City set. It was funny actually, because as our profile grew we didn't have any samples to show anyone- it was all being used on the show!" - Vogue UK
Since that day Amedeo and Roberto have created iconic pieces for movies like Devil wears Prada, Sex & the City, Wall Street, It’s Complicated, When in Vegas and TV shows such as Will & Grace, Sex & The City and Lipstick Jungle.
